Consortium members regularly organize workshops and co-construction sessions with visually impaired, blind and deaf-blind users.
At the end of December in France, the H-lab and the CEA led a new co-construction workshop with blind volunteers to define how the devices developed for the Ability project should function, and in particular the desired interactions for accessing, understanding and annotating graphic content.
The volunteers were able to express their preferences and wishes in terms of interaction for understanding and experiencing graphic content. These exchanges are very enriching for us, and enable us to move forward towards concrete orientations that take into account people's needs and expectations.
All this confirms the need to think in terms of a multimodal device, which can offer several possibilities for setting up and interacting with the system (voice control, physical buttons, keyboards, gestures, etc.).
Many thanks to the “Fédération des Aveugles et Amblyopes de France” for their confidence, and for sharing their expertise in digital and technological accessibility with us.
The next workshops in France are scheduled for January 2024!
