"On Wednesday, 29. January 2025 ABILITY partners from Lund University (Sweden) have presented their recent research on "Early design tools" at the Siemens Lunch & Learn series for interested colleagues - mainly User Experience departments.

At Certec (LUND university), Department of Design Sciences, the team works with universal and accessible design towards development of different types of technologies.

Their research targets the design process, the different tools one can use, as well as the actual designs. In this session, ULUND partners provided a quick overview of their research activities, with a focus on tools for co-design (in particular lo-fi prototyping for inclusion of people with visual impairments and blindness) and presented in detail a concrete example from the ABILITY project developing a refreshable tactile display.

In total 50 people joined the session live, and the recording is available to all Siemens colleagues to watch on the respective internal SharePoint for the series.

The general feedback was that it was a very interesting session with completely new concepts for including a broader range of potential users in design studies."
